Orienteer This Sunday At Mason Neck

Greg Lennon

Sunday's temperatures are now flirting with approaching 70 degrees, so plan to come enjoy orienteering at Mason Neck State Park (near Lorton, VA), on one of Ken Walker's courses (white through blue) this Sunday, March 10.

Timing is standard - but don't forget to set your clocks forward an hour Saturday night for DST - so you can arrive to register between 10:45 - 1:15pm, start between 11 - 1:30pm and be back before 3pm. There is a park entrance fee at this State Park, and for those of you interested in checking out the visiting Northern Alaska tundra swans before or after your orienteering, check out the details on our event webpage.

Approaching Deadline Alert(s) ...

First, this coming Saturday (March 9) is the last day to register for QOC's Junior Training Weekend, held the next weekend (March 13-14) at Prince William Forest Park. Head here for details. Note that the Night-O event on Saturday (3/13) will be a regular public event, open to everyone and without any need to pre-register (webpage here).

Second, this Sunday (March 10) is your last chance to register at discounted rates for QOC's Classic Event, being held April 13-14 on the Quantico Marine Corps Base. A full website discussing this fine event, which includes the 2019 Junior National Championships, is online here and we encourage local orienteers - of all ages - to compete in this national event!
